Have had a terrible experience with customer service without any ability to even get a response.
I ordered a backpack online that said available for pick up next day and it decided instead to ship it from another store, ignoring the inventory in the local store. That was unfortunately being delivered too late beyond the time frame I needed it. Instead, I purchased one somewhere else and called to cancel the order. Customer service originally said no problem email us once it ready for pick up and we will cancel it. I've emailed 4 times with no response over 2 and a half weeks. Furthermore, I spoke to someone in the store who said sorry we can't help you, and then customer service who said it would be refunded (shocker, it hasn't) and I still keep getting emails ready for pick up. I can't speak to the product, but the customer service has been a nightmare to deal with. I still don't have the product, nor my refund. Word of caution, don't bother with ordering online for pick up in store - they don't know how to deal with orders and help you if you have an issue.
Update - still no response.
Bought my indoor cycling trainer here and it was very seamless. Shout out to Ken for the fantastic service! I showed up a day earlier due to prior commitments falling through — despite the inconvenience, he set up the particular trainer I was interested it, let me do a bit of a demo, and answered all my questions about it! Finished up my first ride the other day and it was absolutely perfect.
The people inside the store were lovely…Their customer service (outside of their store) is one of the worst I’ve encountered. I tried calling their customer service number multiple times and was advised, due to long wait times, to leave my number for a rep to call me back. Never happened. I finally tried their chat on their website and after “long wait times” was advised to send an email. After sending an email, I’ve still never received a reply. All I wanted to do was cancel a pickup order. Any other retail clothing store I can typically reach a rep within minutes. You guys have a lot of catching up to do in that regard. And this was my first purchase with MEC ever. Not a good look.
I went into the store not expecting to find what I was looking given how late we are into the summer but was pleasantly surprised. The Customer Service Clerk "Malley" was exceptional. This young lady went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction and didn't rush me along which I sincerely appreciated. I am very satisfied with my purchase and with MEC; it did NOT disappoint.
I intended to purchase a carry-on backpack to use for hiking. On August 16, I called the store to ask a few questions about the backpack, the adjustments, etc. and a staff member advised not to buy this particular backpack for hiking and explained why. The staff member could have encouraged me to make the purchase but instead of securing a sale for the company, he honestly stopped from buying a product that would not serve the purpose I wanted it for. I would like to express my appreciation for such honest advise and expertise. I would like to add that each time I deal with MEC staff, I receive a very high quality service. This makes me really trust MEC and I will be a lifetime customer as a result.
Made an online order, they canceled it without giving me an explanation or even letting me know. Customer service really needs to be improved.
Great outdoors shopping with massive choice across most outdoors activities. Staff very helpful too. Their prices are good too and I find them consistently lower than other shops.
Wow MEC! (online) Are you still in business? Don't answer emails, chats or phone. My order has been "processesing" for 10 days.
